3D Virtual Thai Traditional Medicine Herbarium

Virtual Carpological Herbarium

The 3D Virtual Thai Traditional Medicine Herbarium is a digital archive featuring three-dimensional models of herbs and plants used in Thai traditional medicine. The platform hosts an extensive collection of 3D specimens, carefully digitized using photogrammetry techniques to preserve the authentic characteristics of these medicinal plants for research and education.

The interactive interface allows users to rotate, zoom, and explore detailed plant features, such as roots, leaves, and flowers. High-resolution scanning captures fine details for accurate identification and study.

Specimens were digitized using a low-cost photogrammetry approach with a compact camera, proving that high-quality 3D models can be created affordably, making the herbarium an accessible resource for both researchers and students.

The 3D Virtual Thai Traditional Medicine Database is a comprehensive digital archive that captures the full diversity of materials used in traditional Thai medicine. Divided into three main categories —plants, animals, and minerals—this database presents each component in high-detail, interactive 3D formats. The plant section includes whole and partial plant structures, such as roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits, and seeds, offering users an in-depth view of their medicinal properties.

The animal section showcases specimens and anatomical parts relevant to traditional practices, while the mineral section contains a wide array of naturally occurring substances valued in Thai therapeutic treatments. Together, these 3D models provide a dynamic, visually rich resource for researchers, practitioners, and students, allowing them to explore and analyze each element as if they were handling physical specimens, thereby enhancing the study and preservation of Thai traditional medicine.
